As anyone who lives in Greater Ponsonby will tell you, February is Pride Festival month in our community. It is Tāmaki Makaurau’s annual festival of events for rainbow communities that celebrates the diversity of the region’s queer communities. As part of the festivities, Ray White Damerell Group has launched its annual Fabulous February campaign.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 has seen many of the planned events, including the annual Pride parade cancelled. Damerell Group are still doing their bit to celebrate diversity and inclusion both in the workplace and the community. The team recently shot a video campaign highlighting what was important to them about pride, inclusion, and diversity.
Gower Buchanan, Director of Damerell Group, says it was a natural fit for the whole company to get behind the Fabulous February initiative. Many of his team identify with the Rainbow community.
“As a business leader I want everyone in my team to feel supported, included and most importantly feel that they can be themselves.”
“It’s also important to recognise our Pride community within the Greater Ponsonby neighbourhood. Fabulous February is a great way to bring awareness to being an inclusive society,” says Gower.
While pride month is a fantastic celebration, we also want to be sure that we are carrying this messaging through in our daily lives throughout the remainder of the year.
For Ponsonby salesperson, Campbell Orr, Pride month is a time to remember those in the community that have fought for recognition. It’s also a time to celebrate how far we have come as a society.
